"Pack the Park" for six-year-old cancer patient tonight at the Sox game

In May, we posted a story about Dylan Smith, a very brave Salem six-year-old going who was diagnosed with a medulloblastuloma this January. He immediately had the surgery to remove the tumor from the base of his skull, and he is going through chemotherapy right now.

Smith will throw the first pitch at tonight's "Pack the Park" at the Salem Red Sox game, and Monica Farris, the G.W. Carver PTA, and other "Dylanators" have been selling the discounted ($5) tickets to help Dylan's family cover medical expenses.

Call Monica Farris at 580-1751 before 4 p.m. today to buy your tickets, of which a large percentage will benefit Dylan. Even if you can't get your "pack the park" ticket tonight, every walk-up ticket will benefit Dylan $.50 cents, too.

According to Farris, the game is still on for tonight at the moment. We'll update the blog if it's canceled.

The "Dylanators" will also have a commemorative based signed by all of this year's Salem Red Sox players for auction - bidding will continue until the sixth inning.
