Salem, Glenvar girls play on team that wins North Carolina softball championship
The Virginia “Class Action” Scrappers (Reynolds) 14U team competed in the State Games of North Carolina in Charlotte over the weekend of June 27 & 28, 2009. They came away as Champions of the North Carolina State tournament, which is North Carolina’s equivalent to the Commonwealth Games of Virginia. The Scrappers finished the tournament undefeated outscoring their opponent 34-3. Defensively, they played fundamentally sound, recording only 3 errors for the tournament. Pitchers Brittney Flora, Micaela Gordon and Emily Taylor had sound performances as demonstrated with only 3 runs scored on them in a total of 6 games. Next up will be July 4th weekend when they play locally in the Fast ‘N Furious Tournament in Salem, VA with the added challenge of playing up in the 16U division.
