Virginia Gentlemen announce 2009 scholarship winners

The Virginia Gentlemen awarded two-$1,000 scholarships to two local high school students.  Each year the Virginia Gentlemen has awarded two scholarships to deserving high school choral students.   High school choral music directors each year submit the names of highly deserving students to the Virginia Gentlemen Scholarship Committee who select two students from the many applications.

  • The first scholarship is Rosemary Hart.  Rosemary is a graduate of Salem High School and will be attending Roanoke College in the Fall, majoring in Music/theatre.  Rosemary aspires to be an opera singer someday.    Among Rosemary’s many honors is that she was a 4-time all District Alto-1 and she achieved All-Virginia Choir her senior year.
  • The second $1,000 scholarship winner is Nigel Huckle.   Nigel is a Hidden Valley High School graduate and he will be attending Shenandoah University this Fall majoring in Music/theatre.   Nigel was honored by being selected for the Virginia Music Educator’s Association senior honors chorus.  Nigel was selected as a Tenor-I soloist in the 2008 All-Roanoke Chorus, and a first alternate in the All-Virginia Chorus.

The Virginia Gentlemen are extremely pleased to award our scholarships for 2009 to these highly deserving choral students.
