Wreck backs up traffic on Interstate 81 outside Salem
Northbound traffic is backed up about 2 miles on Interstate 81 in Roanoke County near mile marker 143 -- the interchange with Interstate 581 -- because of a wreck, the Virginia Department of Transportation said.
The right and left shoulders are closed in that area.
A 2-mile back-up means traffic is backed up about to the Salem exit for Virginia 419.
So if you're in Salem and need to head north, probably best to take a detour.
