About Miranda Adkins

Miranda Adkins is the community journalist for “So Salem.” A graduate of Roanoke College and native of Covington, she is an amateur solver of Sudoku puzzles and a fan of the television show “Lost.” Her favorite place to read in Salem is the duck pond across from the construction of the water treatment plant. On their first bike ride from Roanoke College to the park, she and her friend each gracefully wrecked their bikes -- twice. Since then, they have each gained some balance and a distaste for concrete.
During her first Olde Salem Days as a Roanoke College freshman, she stood at the top of the hill near Macado’s and wondered where the enormous mob of people had parked. After her most recent Olde Salem Days as a manager of Mill Mountain Coffee & Tea, she wonders if there is some way to pull that degree of local involvement together year-round.
