Photos: Television station broadcasts from Salem

Barbara Krzysko shares this photo gallery from Channel 10's broadcast from Salem last week and says:

"Steve and I ventured out on a rainy Wednesday night to watch the live WSLS news broadcast from the Salem Lewis Gale Memorial Field. We met Jay Warren, Karen McNew, Jeff Haniewich and John Appicello, who are as nice off-screen as they are on-screen. It was cool to see the crew in action with the camera and sound guys. I took a photo of Steve with the group and Jeff Haniewich suggested he take a photo with me included."

Was there a bear lurking outside an apartment laundry room?

Technically, this isn't a bear sighting, since no bear was actually seen. But someone named Della e-mails us with this account of hearing a bear:

I Have Not seen a Bear. But I live in a apt building that has a Laundry Room that Is not in the Building but a Building behind the apartments. Sometimes I wash late at night because i work late.
I was washing tonite about 2:00 am when I heard a unusual sound. I quickly shut the Door to the Laundry Room. The only time i have ever heard a bear is on tv. But that's what it sounded like to me. I was in the laundry room for a bit. i was scared because i forgot to take my cell phone with me. I thought I was probaly crazy that one wouldn't be in town. But now that I Have Read this i will be careful about washing at night.

Photos: SuperKicks Karate helps kids with Halloween safety at Pumpkinfest

John Bryant at SuperKicks Karate in Salem had a special treat for kids at Pumpkinfest on Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Salem Farmers Market in coordination with C.H.I.P. He helped them learn some simple tips on how to get away from strangers. Bryant shared these photos from that day.

"In the demonstrations I did, we had an interactive class for all the children that wanted to participate. We got to talk about what to do if a stranger approaches you, how to get away if a bad guy grabs you, and we also spoke about making sure you set a good example in everything you do," Bryant said.
