The Salem Red Sox, the Advanced Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox have released their game schedule for the 2010 season, the second year as a Boston Red Sox affiliate and 44th season in the Carolina League."We were thrilled with the support we received from our loyal fans throughout our inaugural season as the Salem Red Sox as our team fell just short of the Carolina League Championship," said Sam Kennedy, President of the Salem Red Sox and Fenway Sports Group. "The 2009 season ended just a few games earlier than we were ready for, and we are already looking forward to another great year on and off the field in 2010."
Salem opens its season with a six-game road trip with stops in Potomac and Lynchburg before returning to Salem for the Red Sox home opener on Friday, April 16 at 7:05PM. The campaign begins on April 8 in Northern Virginia against the Potomac Nationals (Washington Nationals) with the first of a four-game series followed by a three-game series in Lynchburg against the defending Carolina League Champion Lynchburg Hillcats (TBD) starting on Tuesday. Lewis-Gale Field will see its first action of the 2010 season on Friday, April 16 when the Salem Sox host the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Atlanta Braves) at 7:05 p.m.
