Eat and stuff bears for worthy causes

Hungry? Want to get creative? Here are two opportunities to satisfy these urgings and support a cause while doing it:

*Satisfy a sweet tooth:
All day today (you still have a few more hours), you can buy a blizzard at a Roanoke Valley Dairy Queen and support the Carilion Medical Center for Children and Virginia Baptist Hospital. This fundraiser is called Miracle Treat Day, and the funds raised benefit Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

*Let your creativity run wild:
On Saturday, the first 150 people at Build-A-Bear Workshop’s new Valley View Mall store (at 10 a.m.) can make a free bear to donate to Carilion Clinic’s Children’s Hospital. This is a fundraising event of Stuffed with Hugs, Build-A-Bear’s charitable program.

Build-A-Bear’s Valley View store opens Friday on the mall’s upper level, near Belk.
