Cold Stone opens next week
Happy New Year's Eve! I hope that your final week of this holiday season has been merry.
I'm back in the office today and catching up on all of the retail news from the past few days.
Here's a cool update: Cold Stone Creamery's new Roanoke shop is set to open next week.
Franchise owner, Jamey Elder, told me that this global ice cream chain, headed for Valley View Boulevard, will open its doors next week, though the exact day is tentative. Count on the shop being open by Jan. 10, which is its scheduled grand opening.
On grand opening day, there will be a drawing for five people to win free ice cream for a year. Also, the price of all ice cream cakes will be discounted by $5.
The Cold Stone store will open from 10 a.m. to midnight on Jan. 10. These hours are slightly different from its normal hours, which are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1 to 10 p.m. on Sundays.
The new Roanoke Cold Stone is located in a strip center beside the International House of Pancakes and near Target. Elder, a Lynchburg resident, also owns Cold Stone locations in Danville and Christiansburg.

Hmm, seems like January would be about the worst possible time to open an ice-cream shop. Was there some sort of delay or did they actually choose to open in the heart of winter?

I don't know about other folks, but I tend to have more ice cream in winter than summer because it doesn't melt nearly as quickly. To me, there's nothing worse than melted, dripping ice cream soup...so winter cold takes care of preventing that from happening.

I'm so excited Cold Stone is opening here in Roanoke! And only a few minutes from my apartment too
I was hoping it'd be open in time to use my birthday coupon, but that expired a couple of weeks ago... oh well!
I personally don't mind that it's opening in January. Yeah, I probably eat ice cream more frequently in the summer... but I still eat it year-round. (I'm a chocoholic, what can I say?) Now I'm getting hungry!

Cold Stone will be well received in Roanoke. The chain has a lot of variety not only in ice cream but in healthy alternatives. I will be a frequent visitor!!

I've noticed that the Ben and Jerrys at VV isn't busy at all! I figured it was because it was January but with the amount of people saying they would visit Cold Stone in the winter, it make me wonder...

My daughters and I went to Ben and Jerry's at VV the week between Christmas and New Year's. We tried to get 3 different flavors, all of which they were out of, and ended up leaving without ice cream. The employees just laughed. I didn't think it was very clean looking either.
