No, like a majority of these companies that are closing, it is due to their own poor upper management. You can point to most of them that are closing (Steve and Barry's, S&K Menswear, B.Moss)and say the exact same thing.

No, not Goody's! (*CE sings, "Baby come back!) This is one of the few stores that offers good prices on clothing and cute clothes for unconventional body types, such as petite and plus sizes. But then again, maybe that's why they closed...their deals were just so good that they couldn't turn a profit.

I will truly miss Goody's in Galax. It is a shame we will be losing our only clothing store that could be close to being called upscale.
This will mean a trip to Mt. Airy/Winston/Blacksburg for those of us who do not wish to buy Wal-Mart's mis sized clothing.

Oh No! Goody's is the only store other than Walmart in the Galax area that offers good buys on clothing, especially mens clothing. Just another case of poor management I guess.

Well that certainly stinks. I had grown to really like the Goody's at Spradlin Farm because I thought they sold some good quality clothing at pretty reasonable prices. At least there's Target and TJ Maxx in the same shopping center to pick up the business when they close. I have to wonder how many more companies are going to go under in the next 6-9 months. I talked to some folks I worked with at Lowes, and they laid off practically every part time worker they had, and I probably will not be allowed to return when my leave of absense expires in March, so I'll get the ax from there too. These are some very tough times indeed. And since our economy is so service/retail oriented now, a small ripple in the pond becomes a tsunami in a hurry, so I only anticipate the pace of closures to quicken and get more pronounced, before improving. But, the bright side is that the survivors will be much stronger for it, hopefully, and when the economy starts moving again there wil be chances for new companies to come along and maybe carve out a peice of the shopping pie.
