A new Kingery meat market
I have tasty news for those of you missing the fresh meat produced on the Kingery farm in Roanoke County and formerly sold at the family's country store.
Last week, co-owners Randy and Wayne Kingery opened a separate meat market a few doors away their former country store on U.S. 220 South in the Clearbrook area of Roanoke County. New owners, Thomas Milton and Ashley Russell took over this store in January.
At the new meat shop, called Kingery Brothers Meats, you'll find homemade sausage, tenderloin, ribs, hamburger and other meats straight from the Kingery's farm, where the family raises and butchers pigs.
This meat shop at 5437 Franklin Road is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Good news. They have the best sausage you can buy. I'm glad we will still be able to get it.

Hey Jenny,
Have you heard anything about the Good Things on the Market building. That name has been taken off of it and the door and window are papered.

Hi, Debbie,
Good Things on the Market closed in December, because the owner decided to retire. I haven't heard any news on whether a new retailer will move into that space. I'll keep you updated. Thanks!

I knew it had closed, but walking by there this morning was the first time I've seen the window and door papered so you can't see inside and the former lettering gone, so I was just curious.
Thanks

Debbie,
Thanks for your observations on this space. I'll definitely check it out.

Went by there today and picked up some burger. 2.99 a pound for 90/10. Grilled it up for dinner, one word amazing! They have a new and very happy customer in me now!

If $2.99 is the regular price for 90/10 burger, I'm also a new customer! I was thinking of venturing to Kingery Bros. this weekend to check them out.

Lori, it wasn't marked but when I asked the lady working there she said it was 90/10 to the best of her knowledge. Regardless of what the fat content was they were excellent burgers. Their burgers are pre packaged in various sizes from 1/2 a pound to 2 pounds, the same lady told me if I called they would make whatever size package I requested so long as I gave them enough notice to get it ready. Everybody there was super nice and I will definitely will be going back very soon!

Thanks, Alan! I've been wanting to find a good place for homemade sausage (tried making my own and the recipe needs work) and other meats. I like O'Brien's, too, but I can never make it out to Salem when they are open.

Your welcome Lori. I have the same problem with O'brien's that you do, I am friends with the family and by the time I make it to Salem they are already closed. In my opinion O'brien's will always have the best beef in town, not to mention those awesome 1.50 sandwiches that I sometimes struggle to finish because they are so big!
