New beauty store may come to Valley View
Recently I found a permit for work to remodel space for a new beauty store at Valley View Mall in Roanoke.
The permit reveals that a store called Bella Beauty is making plans to open in a space on the mall's upper level, near Macy's home and children's shop. The space is labeled as UF 275, and you can find it on the mall map here.
Kendall Hurt, a Valley View spokeswoman, told me that she could not confirm Bella Beauty's opening plans. The building permit still is under review.
I don't know the details about Bella Beauty. Let me know if you've ever shopped at a Bella Beauty store.

There is currently a gold/jewelry store at the site you mention ... do they know about this new salon?
Also, in your story of July 1 the spokesperson says the mall is 100% leased. This is at best disingenuous and at worst plain false: there are several vacancies at the mall including the newly closed Ritz Camera and the former B. Moss locations as well as the art shop on the lower level and the space next to Spencer's gifts.
How does everyone square the statement that the mall is fully leased (with the implication that things are just hunky-dory) with the reality that there are several empty spaces?

Saintbridge,
Valley View Mall's manager indicated that the interior section of the mall is fully leased, though not all of the plans for these vacant spaces have yet been executed. For example, she said the Gallery store will be moving into the Ritz Camera space.
As for the Gold Italia store, I'm not sure yet what will happen to that retailer should a new beauty store open. Mall management was tight-lipped about this new store's coming and any other changes that could come with it. Hopefully, Valley View will offer more details once the building permit is approved.

Sounds like the fast talker who told the gal at the bar, "I'm a millionaire, I just haven't amassed all the cash in one place yet!"
And wait -- The gallery store that just had it's going out of business sale is moving into the Ritz space? If that's true, then the person who thinks altitude was the reason their one-star quality motel art didn't move is just nuts.
Not your fault, I know, they are just using corporatespeak to put lipstick on their pig. MAybe another shade would work better.
Basically, if they are not getting a Kohl's or a Trader Joe's in there, they got nothing worth being elusive about.

Valley View Mall is holding up much better than struggling Tanglewood.
Although Tanglewood is basically an empty place I liked the signs they placed in all of the empty storefront windows. I think that mall will go the way of Crossroads and become more of a business and lifestyle center rather than a retail destination. Valley View and its parent CBL seem to know more about retailing in this awful economy. Lets hope we don't see too many more closings.
