More on Christmas in July

Sears and Kmart aren't the only retailers pushing the Christmas shopping season this summer.

Toys R Us is joining the lineup. The toy retailer is planning holiday activities for children and apparently, will begin discounting certain toys next week.

Check out this Washington Post story for the details.

  1. If only people knew how long it takes to unpack, price and decorate for the largest season of the year. If takes months for the large stores and small retailer to prepare for the Christmas Holidays. Many people want to shop early and having it out at the end of summer (Aug.) starts our last quarter of the year with a positive attitude of getting ready for the holidays.
Hope everyone looks at early Christmas is a good thing for all.
    P.S. Love your column.

  2. I won't and never will. In fact it sickens me to see it out so early. When the holidays do get here I'm already sick of them. There is no reason to buy Christmas lights in August. Arts and Craft supply's I can see as it would take time for someone to make something. I see putting it out this early as cramming it down our thoughts. The holidays loose there true meaning when all that is important is dollars.
