Best times to buy

Sunday are the best days for landing a cheap rate on a hotel room.

January's the best time to find low prices on linens and bedding.

And when dining out, choose Tuesdays for quality and Sundays for price.

There are certain times of the year or the days of the week when landing a deal on a specific item is better than others.

Click here for an interesting run down of the best times to shop for 45 different items, from baby clothing and air conditioners to airline tickets and even bicycles.

  1. We do a lot of this. I tend to buy summer clothes at the end of summer, winter clothes at the end of winter...basically buy stuff at the end of the season for which it's useful. You can get great deals on things like patio sets, lawnmowers, clothes, all sorts of stuff if you shop that way. We also take vacations in the off season when hotels are cheap and tourist attractions are less crowded so we can take out time and enjoy them. It works, and we get a much better feel for a place when it's not over-run with throngs of camera-toting tourists.
