The American Red Cross held a blood drive on Wednesday, August 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at LifeWise Fitness on Brambleton Avenue.
Q-99 radio personalities Dick and Dave, 94.9 Star Country personalities Robynn Jaymes and Brett Sharp, and Fox 21/27 were there to support the Red Cross Blood Drive.
Volunteer Judy Kristoff said, "It has been really good, regardless of the weather."
The Red Cross had a goal in mind for the drive which included about 60 people. Those in the community were able to register beforehand but walk-ins were welcome too.
As off 12 p.m., Charge Nurse, Kathy Wray said, "We've had at least 14 people sign in. We're doing pretty well."
This was the first blood drive held at LifeWise Fitness by the American Red Cross. Buffalo Wild Wings provided food for those who donated and drinks, cookies, and other snacks were plentiful.
Dalh Brown, with Donor Recruitment said, "This blood drive originated from this being a health center. It's been running on the radio and it's been going really well. We've had people walk in and people are really stepping up to the plate. The community has been great. I've found that when you ask people in the Valley to donate they are willing to help."
By the end of the blood drive, the Red Cross had collected 41 pints of blood and had 17 first time donors.
