SWoCo residents selected as Business Hall of Fame Laureates
Roanoke, Virginia, September 16, 2008 –A distinguished committee of Roanoke Valley business leaders has selected Laureates Billy H. Branch, chairman of Branch Management Corp., and Lorinda “Rindy” and Samuel L. Lionberger, Jr. as the 2008 Business Hall of Fame Laureates.
They were selected because of their great influence in the business world and their deep commitment to community, education and children. They will be inducted at the 18th annual Southwest Virginia Business Hall of Fame dinner on October 14 at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center.
Lorinda "Rindy" and Samuel L. Lionberger, Jr. of Lionberger Construction are the first ever husband and wife Laureates. The Laureates for this year have been instrumental in the construction of many fine businesses and the infrastructure in the region. The Laureates are very familiar with Southwest County and each had children who attended schools in the area.
The Southwest Virginia Business Hall of Fame was established in 1990 by the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Southwest Virginia to honor regional leaders of the free enterprise system and to provide business role models for our region’s youth.
For 18 years the Southwest Virginia business community and Junior Achievement honors its own by recognizing the lifetime achievements of at least two Laureates. This premier event upholds the mission of Junior Achievement to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.
