Forum Shopping Center goes "Passionately Pink"
For the entire month, all thirteen merchants at the Forum Shopping Center will join together to raise money in the fight against breast cancer. The money raised will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research, education and awareness with 25% going to the local chapter of the Foundation. All of the shops will be asking for donations of five dollars or more in order to receive a 2008 “Passionately Pink" pin.
According to Marit Wilson, the manager at Yarid’s Shoes, “the opportunity to aid in the “Passionately Pink” campaign is an extreme privilege. Everyone is affected by cancer in some aspect of his or her life. This is something that is close to everyone’s heart.”
Individually, several boutiques are finding their own ways to help raise funds to support the cause throughout the whole month. Yarid’s Shoes will have Nancy Katz’s pink ribbon shoe clips for sell, along with a Timmy Woods pink ribbon purse with a percentage of sales being donated. Blue Mountain Gems will be creating pink necklaces to sell with 50% of the sale going to the Komen Foundation. Colors & You will be donating five dollars for each Brighton "Celebration of Life" bracelet sold and just for trying on a pair of French Dressing jeans, one dollar will be contributed. Last year $900.00 was raised.
Culminating on October 25th, the Forum will go “Passionately Pink,” and special activities are planned. Toad'ly Kids and Willow Grove will be donating one dollar each time a pink item is brought. E.I. Randle is having a drawing for a pink sweater, as well as Through the Garden Gate, three boxes of four French milled pink ribbon soaps. Mimi's Plus is donating one dollar for every $100.00 purchase. You’re Invited will donate five dollars for every order placed using pink ink. From October 15 - 29, a "She Bead" trunk show will be held at Colors & You with a donation made based on total sales.
If you wish to donate online, Katherine Strausbaugh, Talbots assistant manager, has a personal web page on the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Under “Passionately Pink” donations, type Katherine Strausbaugh’s name and when you get to her personal page, click Donate over the thermometer. In the end, Talbot's will corporately match funds raised by the Forum up to $500.00.
The Forum Shopping Center is located on Starkey Road, just off of 419.
