Your online guide to the October 10 issue of SWoCo
Now that's a lot of pumpkins! And this week in SWoCo, we have a lot of news to bring your way from Southwest Roanoke County -- so much that we can't fit it all in print. So that's why throughout the issue, you'll see places where we say go online for more. Well, here's a guide to that more.
And we'll start with our story on Cave Spring United Methodist Church, and a mighty big load of pumpkins fit for carving. We have a photo gallery of the pumpkin unloading.
Which reminds us -- surely a lot of these pumpkins are going to get carved into jack o'lanterns. How about sending us a photo of your pumpkin? Or your Halloween display in general? In fact, while you're at it, you can enter our Autumn Snapshots Contest. Details are in this week's issue of SWoCo -- but the gist of it is to go to www.swo-co.com, click on "SHARE" and include the words "Autumn Snapshots Contest" in the message. And bing, you're in. Well, you need to send a photo, too, of course. Even better, you might win some stuff.
But now, back to carving up this week's online extras:
* Photo gallery of orchids (the orchid show is this weekend)
* Teacher holds meeting to organize trip to Peru
* Photos from the Clearbrook Elementary Fall Festival. (Does your school have a falll festival. Surely it does! You can share photos at news@swo-co.com.)
* Pottery show is Oct. 17-19 at Cave Spring High School
* Grand jury indicts man in death of Southwest Roanoke County jogger
* St. John Lutheran holds seminar on finances and work on Oct. 25
* Bear sightings in Southwest Roanoke County
AND IN SPORTS . . .
* Photo gallery from the Cave Spring Middle - Hidden Valley Middle volleyball game (By the way, we should have said that was Kendall Stuart in the photo on page 12, not Eliza Gaylord. Oops!)
* More photos from the golfers good-natured waterfight
* Info on the golf tournament to raise money for Cave Spring boys' basketball
* Complete results from the Metro Invitational cross-country meet
* Hunting photo from Bent Mountain
So, you're wondering, how can you get your news and photos in SWoCo? Easy! You can share at news@swo-co.com.
