Webcast wonders what happened to the Hidden Valley band?

On this week's Varsity Cast, our weekly high school sports webcast, the attention turns from football to . . . the Hidden Valley High School band.

Sportswriter Robert Anderson says after playing the national anthem at Friday's game, the band packed up their instruments and left -- much to the dismay of some of the football folks. What gives?, he asks. Concerned about rusty instruments on a rainy night?

Problem is, the Salem band stayed.

See what Robert has to say. And if anyone wants to weigh in, leave a comment below.

  1. At $250+ to re-pad a clarinet(and we have 28) our band director made the smart call to not damage our instruments, especially the woodwinds. Salem brought a fraction of their band, brass and percussion, not in uniform.

Instead of complaining, how about buying some band fruit so we have the money to maintain instruments, dry-clean uniforms and purchase rain gear. The fruit sale runs through 10/31.
