Brambleton Center Country Store Flea Market concludes the year successfully

Six times a year the Brambleton Center holds a Country Store Flea Market in the gym. Today's flea market was the last one scheduled for the year at the Brambleton Center, but that did not stop the regular crowd, or the vendors.

Ladies of Oak Grove community sold their baked goods and other items were scattered on tables throughout the room. The sell which began a 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14 concluded at 1 p.m. Items for sell includes household goods, appliances, baked goods, crafts, clothing, antiques, and much more.

The event is held on the second Friday of March, April, May, September, October, and concludes for the year in November.

There is a table fee of $6 charged by Roanoke County for the senior citizens who want participate in the flea market. The county provides the tables and chairs. The county has to collect sales tax from the money that is made by the vendors, but they get to keep the rest.

According to Terry Flanary, Recreation Programmer and Adult/Senior Programs with Roanoke County Parks, Recreation & Tourism, priority for tables goes to senior citizens first and then to those a bit younger if they don't fill up their tables.

"It's a good thing. The senior citizens like the fellowship and we have a lot of regulars. The crowd was good today," Flanary said.
