Your online guide to the Dec. 5 issue of SWoCo

Christmas officially came to Southwest Roanoke County this week and we were there. So were many of you, and we have photos!

We have a photo gallery from the ceremonies surrounding the lighting of the county's official Christmas tree near Tanglewood Mall, including the one at left.

We also have a photo gallery of people who stepped onto the red carpet to have their pictures taken by our paparazzi photo crew.

And wait, there's more. We even have photos of people who brought their pets to be photographed with Santa at Tanglewood Mall this past Sunday.

Do you have holiday-related photos of your own you'd like to share? Whether it's your family, your pet, your decorations, or anything at all, you can share at news@swo-co.com -- and help everyone get in the holiday spirit.

Those aren't the only online extras we have this week. Here are some of the others that we've stuffed into our sack:

* Photos of Southwest Roanoke County people at Drumstick Dash
* Steve & Barry’s set to close at Tanglewood by Jan. 9
* More on the McGlothlin Award semi-finalists
* More photos from Hidden Valley grad Alicia McCarty in South Korea
* More photos from the Cave Spring Middle - Hidden Valley Middle basketball games (both boys and girls)
* More photos of Southwest Roanoke County people at the Little Black Dress Party
* Nature photos from Bent Mountain

Also new and improved this week: To the right, you'll see a new category called "Easy guide to our online links." That's where we'll be storing the weekly online guides, to make them, well, easier to find.

So how can you get your news and photos in SWoCo? Easy! Just share at news@swo-co.com

For more information on us -- and how to advertise and reach more than 90 percent of the households in Southwest Roanoke County -- see below:

* You can meet our community journalist for Southwest Roanoke County -- Emily Flora. She keeps regular office hours at our "bureau" -- the Mill Mountain Coffee & Tea on Starkey Road. Here’s her schedule.

* So how do we reach more than 90 percent of the households in Southwest Roanoke County? Here’s how: Subscribers to The Roanoke Times get it included in their Friday paper; non-subscribers have it mailed to them as part of the weekly Simply Savings advertising flier. Those two add up to more than 90 percent. Plus, we have some free copies available at Kroger, Food Lion and Mill Mountain Coffee & Tea in case we miss you somehow.

* Are you an advertiser who wants to get your message to more than 90 percent of the households in Southwest Roanoke County? You can find out more at advertise@swo-co.com. Want to place a classified ad to reach your neighbors in Swoco? Let us know at classifieds@swo-co.com.

Finally, a special treat: SWoco, the video. A trilogy, actually.

Plus, an invitation: Write a song or a poem about SWoCo! Send it to us at news@swo-co.com and, well, we'll figure out something fun to do with it. We promise.
