A Man on the Moon submission of a creative design that interprets man

In celebration of their 50th anniversary, the Sugar Loaf Garden Club held a flower show today, April 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. entitled "A Walk Through 5o Years".

During that time judges rated flowers in categories such as Footprints Through Time, Man on the Moon, Disco, Computer Age, Thinking Green, and New Millennium. Students from Oak Grove Elementary even submitted their work in Woodsy and Smokey Do Their Job and a Propagation exhibits.

Flower show awards included first place award which must score 90 or above, one second place award which must score 85 or above and one third place which much score 80 or above or honorable mention with a score of 70 or above.

Awards for the Horticulture Division included, Grower's Choice Award, Award of Merit, Arboreal Award, and the Award of Horticultural Excellence.

And awards for the design division included the Designer's Choice Award.

The show was held at the Roaoke Council of Garden Clubs and admission was free.

Sugar Loaf Garden Club is a member of the ROanoke COuncil of Garden Clubs Blue Ridge Distrcit and Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. South Atlantic Region and National Garden Clubs, Inc.
