Photos from "Laps of Love" at Back Creek Elementary
Susan Kern, 1st grade teacher at Back Creek Elementary School was recently diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Susan has been a teacher at BCES for 9 years. Her energy, love for the children, and unique style of teaching have made her a much loved teacher over the years.
To show their concern, Back Creek Elementary School and the school's PTA held a “Laps for Love” event honoring Susan Kern. The event took place on May 1. Children were challenged to walk, skip, or run 9 laps around the track. Everyone also tied pink ribbons on the fence. It was a fun and happy day to celebrate Mrs. Kern and all she has contributed to educating Back Creek students.
Parisi Speed School coaches were on site to assist with the event. The school has raised over $5200. Additional donations are welcome and can be sent to the "Susan Kern Fund" at the Roanoke County Credit Union.
