Southwest Roanoke County man leads Virginia Tech Storm Chase

Let's take a moment to talk up one of our own: After all, Kevin Myatt, the weather columnist for The Roanoke Times, does live in Southwest Roanoke County.

Every year, he takes part in an annual storm-chasing group that heads out to the Midwest in search of severe weather. This year, the group is affiliated with Virginia Tech, and the chasers headed out this morning, with Kevin as one of the co-leaders.

Ironically, their departure had been delayed by good weather in the Plains.

Kevin will be providing updates in the storm-chasing section on his Weather Journal blog.

For background on the trip, and who's going, see this post.

The storm chasers also have their own blog here.
