Photos: 2009 Steamin’ Summer ShrimpFest a smash hit

On Saturday June 6, 2009, over 400 guests enjoyed the 2009 Steamin’ Summer ShrimpFest at the Salem Civic Center.  Guests this year enjoyed shrimp prepared in a variety of fashions as well as a selection of foods from Baja Bistro and coffee from Starbucks.  The band, Surrender Dorothy, made an appearance again this year with a wide variety of cover songs spanning all generations.  A special thank you goes out to all of our sponsors including Verizon, P.A. Short Distribution Co., Verizon Wireless, Q99, WDBJ 7, Hart Motor Company, Salem Catering, the Salem Civic Center, SERVPRO, and SRO Productions.  An additional thank you goes out to all the companies that donated items to the Silent Auction.  All proceeds from the event benefit the Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which supports a scholarship fund that is dispersed to four area graduating Seniors in their quest for continuing education.  ShrimpFest is also a large fundraiser each year that helps in retiring the debt on renovation of the Carriage House in Longwood Park.
