Divine Dance Center wins at national dance competition

Divine Dance Center, based in Southwest Roanoke County and featuring a lot of dancers from Southwest Roanoke County, shares the following news:

Divine Dance Center Wins at National Dance Competition

Trip to Dance Machine Performing Arts Championships was an Exciting One

Roanoke, VA-June 28, 2009-In Wilkesboro, NC, Divine Dance Center competed against dozens of dance studios from around the region for top honors at Dance Machine's National Championships.

Their top highlights are as follows:

In Duet/Trios:

"Dance to the Music" danced by Madelynn Alexander and Brekke Buback, received a high gold and was the Petite Recreational Duet Grand National Champion.  "Party Girls", danced by Abbie Hoback, Katie Walters, and Margo Greenawald, received a high gold and was the Petite Competitive Duet Grand National Champion.  "Two of a Kind", danced by Joey d'Alelio and Courtney Boyd, received platinum and was the Junior Intermediate Duet Grand National Champion.  "They Both Reached for the Gun", danced by Tony d'Alelio and Kai Washington-Brown, received an x-treme platinum and was the Junior Competitive Duet Grand National Champion.  "Lost", danced by Tony d'Alelio and Jessi Buckley, received a platinum and was the Teen Competitive Duet Grand National Champion.

In Solos:

Tony d'Alelio was the Overall Teen Grand National Champion with his contemporary solo, "Freshman".  Tony took home a 6 foot trophy for his achievement.

In Groups:

Divine Dance Center's junior clogging team brought home the title of Petite Recreational Small Group Grand National Champion with their dance, "Hittin' the Hay".  The junior large group jazz dance, "Fury" was the Junior Large Group Grand National Champion.  In the teen division, Divine Dance Center swept up the awards in the small group division taking 4th place through Grand Champion.  All of their dances received an x-treme platinum.  "Cell Block Tango" was the Teen Small Group Grand National Champion and re-competed and won the Teen/Senior Showdown of the Stars for an 8 foot trophy and the crown of Ultimate Grand National Champion.

Sammi Rader was given the junior choreography award for her work on the Junior Small Hip Hop routine, "Shopaholic".

Katie Walters won the title of America's Petite Miss Dance with her clogging solo to "5,6,7,8".  She will represent Divine Dance Center and Dance Machine Productions through out the 2009-2010 season.

Divine Dance Center's competitive dance company is comprised of 34 dancers ages 7 to 16.  This event was their last for the season, what a way to go out with a bang!
