Welcome Burger in the Square to Southwest Roanoke County! On August 24, Burger in the Square opened up on 3904 Brambleton Avenue (in the old Pitt Boss location).

Owners Anita and Louis Wilson remodeled the whole place, with new paint, updated bathroom, and updated kitchen. They also installed new floors.

Anita Wilson said that they began working on getting the place back in April and were able to start making changes in May.

"Business has been very good. We've just done a soft opening. We haven't done a grand opening yet," she said. "It's not too big, not too small. Our customers come and show their support and that shows it all. We've been extremely bless to be where we are."

Burger in the Square has been in its downtown location at the Market since 1985. Anita and Louis bought it in 1999.

"I was in marketing and my husband was in the restaurant business. He'd go down there and eat all the time. So when it came up for sale he begged me to buy it," she said.

Burger in the Square serves basically any type of specialty burger you can get and fresh grind their meat everyday. It's hand patted and never frozen. New on their menu, and special only to the Southwest Roanoke location are their new children's menu options which include PB&j and grilled cheese. They are also now offering grilled chicken and grilled chicken salads.

"A lot of love goes into the burger, I tell you what. We've received 24 awards for our burgers," she said. "The primary reason we opened this location is because they are going to remodel the Market Street building downtown, so they will be closed for a while. Once that reopens, I don't know if we will go back. We will probably open another location in Southwest County or Salem. We also live in Southwest Roanoke County. We've been country residents for 15 years."

Between the two locations Burger in the Square has about 10 employees. They are open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday Through Saturday and closed on Sunday. The number to their new Southwest Roanoke County location is 400-8645.

"We are very happy here. So far, it feels like home and very comfortable," she said.

  1. Have not had a chance to patronize this new location but if it is anything like the one in the City Market Building it will be very successful. The Wilsons are very nice to deal with and their food has always been great. Welcome to our area and we'll see you soon.
