That TV Blog

And so it begins

Two hours of Survivor: Gabon left me content after waiting for four months. And it wasn’t just the length of the show but the fast paced editing that was satisfying. No long, drawn out ride in a boat and frantic swim to shore but boom, the 18 are in Africa and we get right to it.

The wait is almost over!

Get ready folks, Survivor: Gabon starts tonight!

Just a little intro on my part: I'm Heather Froeschl, editorial assistant here in the Roanoke Times newsroom, and I'll be blogging about Jeff Probst and the latest 18 victims to challenges, forced social interactions and lack of food. I've been a Survivor fan since day one, watched every episode, and contemplated volunteering to be a contestant. Yes, I could've done it if I didn't play the mama bear role.

I know, it's a show you either hate or love. So, if you're a fan, join me here on Fridays for a recap and virtual water-cooler gabfest and if you're an anti-Survivor, feel free to comment and make fun of me. I've heard it all already.

Tonight is greatly anticipated in my household though Mother Nature may have other plans for us since we are now and will be throughout the evening in a high wind advisory. Never fear! If she knocks out our electricity, I am prepared to fire up the generator and sit in the dark in front of the TV to report on the new season opener of Survivor: Gabon!

Project Runway: Suede gets punked

Well, at least Suede looked bad-ass as he said his wiedersehens last night. I thought Kenley's outfit was the bigger dud, but Suede definitely deserved to go home based on his struggling track record.
I definitely thought Korto's decision to bleach the denim was incredibly smart .... can't say the same about the blue eyeshadow, though.
Was it just me, or did Kenley look totally average in her pop-star get-up? Jerell's design was cool, but without her usual orange lipstick and yellow flower in the hair, Kenley's just another gal. And I was so happy to see Tim call her out during his critique of her hip-FLOP outfit with the ridiculous high-waisted jeans. She's quite the crybaby.
Speaking of crybabies, looks like there are tons of tears in store next week ...
See all of last night's looks here.

Project Runway's Heidi Klum at the Emmys

As expected, reviews weren't so great for Sunday's Emmy Awards ... but host Heidi Klum strutted her stuff in five different frocks, and I didn't really like any of them. Especially the blue one.
Check them out here.

I did it!

Hey, I got through an awards show- go me.

It wasn't that bad, although it does drag on for a while.

Most of all, though, I'm excited about this week's (and this months!) premieres. Never used to be a huge TV watcher, but I've caught up (thanks DVDs!) on a bunch of great and/or addicting shows and now have way too much to watch every week.

As you might have guessed, I'm psyched for Heroes tomorrow, even though that means staying up past 11 p.m. two nights in a row. Then Grey's and The Office Thursday (I'm leaning toward Grey's to watch live, but we'll see...) Finishing up with Desperate Housewives on Sunday. What a great week- enjoy it!

Alright, now I'm going to get some pie and get to bed.

Catching up on my Emmy knowledge

So... I guess there are a bunch of less-important awards that were announced earlier? Am I getting that right?

On another note, have not been too impressed with dresses so far- am I supposed to wait for the Oscars for that?

And there ya go, Lindsey- your show won!

Also, I think the awards shows should have commercials like the Super Bowl.

Fun picture

I had to run out to a fire (see Roanoke.Com tomorrow morning for the details), but I'm back. To make it up to you, here's a picture from Heidi Klum's tux-to-skirt change.

Cue the commercial!

Yeah ... cut off the worthy writer making a valid point about articulate Founding Fathers .... while showcasing some really lame intro dialogue. Thanks for the censoring, Emmys. I think I"ll be changing over to "True Blood" on commercial-free HBO.

This time tomorrow...

I'll be halfway into the two-hour season premiere of Heroes!
