Facebook feline chatter

Facebook status line from a friend of mine this morning and the ensuing comments over the next half hour from me and two other social-network friends:

Friend A thinks the cats have reached a new low.

Me: Cats don't have an answer for "how low can you go?" It's a feline thing, you understand.

Friend B: Are they using the carpeting like TP?

Me: My cat does the butt scoot across the floor. Gross.

Friend A: They treated the gift wrap storage bin as their new litterbox.

Friend C: Wow. That's a new one. Both of them? Like, in tandem? Bad kitties! I hope mine doesn't get any ideas.

Me: They left you little gifts they made themselves. They just lacked the opposable thumbs it takes to use the wrapping paper. Don't be such a Scrooge.

  1. Nona, I'm so glad you value the presents your kitties would make themselves. I, on the other hand, wouldn't find any good in that at all. Call me a scrooge or an unsympathetic cat owner, if you must, but my kitty better find the litter box or ... or else.

    I know.

    I'm such a disciplinarian.

  2. Do your pets have their own facebook? I recently got an invite from my friend's dog for my dog to be her friend on "Dogbook".

  3. Amy- I try to see the bright side of every mess, especially one I don't have to clean up :-)

BTW- My friend replied back "Humbug. I clean their box every day. They know better."

Ah, knowing better and doing better is two completely different things for kitties.

  4. Michelle- I had a Facebook page for my puppy, Stormy, but the bigots at Facebook disabled it because apparently only humans are allowed to have Facebook pages. Dogbook is their answer for pet parents who want to network socially via their critters.

  5. Ah Nona, one would say the same of children. Very different, but yet very much the same.

Foster homes for the holidays

The Roanoke Valley SPCA is participating in the national “Foster A Lonely Pet For the Holidays” pet fostering program.

Over 13,000 pet rescue organizations nationwide are trying to empty the kennels for Christmas, encouraging families to open their home for the holidays to an adoptable pet waiting for a forever home.

Fostered pets can be picked up between December 18-23, and can be returned to the RVSPCA between December 30-January 2.

The RVSPCA will provide all needed supplies and support to the temporary families. You can view all of the pets online at www.rvspca.org, or visit the shelter to meet them.  The goal is to have each of these pets into a home by noon on December 23.

Ann Marie Sweeney, foster coordinator for the RVSPCA, will answer questions about the program for people interested in making this Christmas a happy holiday for a pet in need.  Contact Sweeney at 344-4840, ext. 208 or e-mail asweeney@rvspca.org.
