New additions- puppy pictures

A co-worker of mine and a co-worker of my husband each adopted a new puppy in recent weeks, and you know how much I love to share baby pictures.

This is Seamus and he belongs to Anne and Brady.  Anne sought suggestions on her Facebook page for this handsome boy's name. Since he's a boxer, I suggested Ali, Foreman, Rocky or Balboa.  In honor of Merle Haggard's recent visit to our city, I also suggested Merle, and keeping with the old-school country music theme, I also tossed Hank, Waylon or Willie into the mix.

Someone else came up with the brilliant moniker: Princess Sparkle Pants.

None of these suggestions were taken and, being a good Irish girl, I certainly approve of the final choice. I think Seamus is a perfect name for the little guy.

But I am so naming my next dog Waylon Balboa Sparkle Pants.

Meet Ellie. She's found a home with Chelsea and Ryan. As if just being a puppy isn't outrageously cute already, Ellie is a Lakeland terrier, which is apparently a breed of dog that can pass itself off as a Boyd's Bear.

That's Ellie on the right with the bow in her hair, by the way.

If you have any clever suggestions for LOL-type captions for either or both of these photos, post a comment.

And if you have any new additions to your family, e-mail the photos to pets@roanoke.com.

  1. Oh my gosh, what beautiful babies! Congrats to the new pet parents :-)
Can't really come up with anything for Seamus, other than "Wake me when we get there!" For Ellie, how about "I will love him and squeeze him and pet him and call him my own...."

  2. Leisa, I love your suggestion for Ellie. I guess that just shows how much I like the Looney Tunes. I can just see the Abominable Snow Man cartoon right now.

  3. Seamus appears to be whining....are we THERE yet? lol

Ellie is such a twin to the Boyd Bear it is uncanny! I can't think of anything clever for that caption but she is just too cute for words.

I love the lol sites! I think my favorite is the "upcoming" that shows all the submissions. It gives even more lol's.

I just got 2 guinea pigs after my hamster passed on. I LOVE these little girls (my first piggies). Any news in the guinea pig world? I named them Thelma and Louise and warned them not to jump off the ledge in their cage. They are so much more fun than hamsters since they are awake during the day. I'm working on taming them with daily interaction and Louise has actually given me little piggie kisses on my chin! So sweet!

  4. How cute!!! I can't think of a caption for Seamus, although I am partial to Boxers since my grandoggy Olive is one. She's a sweetie.
As a caption for Ellie, how about "No, you can't have him he's mine, all mine."

  5. I'm glad you picked up on the reference, Eric! Wasn't sure if anyone would get that :-) We must have had the same Saturday morning routine when we were kids. Love those old cartoons!
