Our region is under a slight risk of severe weather this evening as storms develop to our west and possibly move our way with a cold front. Also, a few storms may pop up here and there ahead of the front over our region this afternoon.

The new stuff appears to be firing on the outflow boundary the storm cluster is kicking out to its southwest. We're definitely in a summer-type pattern now with these storm clusters almost randomly meandering, this one taking a southwest turn.

Yeah, it does Kevin. It's also breaking up more as it passes Beckley, with more storms firing up west of the original cluster. It may be that far SWVA gets some good rains, and only a few sprinkles make it this way. It's looking like the mountains and drier air are taking their toll, though here in Blacksburg our cloud cover has increased substantially since this morning.

Looking at Radar, there's a small cluster of storms coming through WV now that looks to be on line for the area. Only question is whether or not it will hold together as it moves to the drier air and crosses the mountains. I have a feeling we'll just get some afternoon cloud cover and a few random sprinkles out of it, but we'll see.
