Kristopher Peters with a mountain of a black bear

Ellen Horn of the Hunter's Den in New Castle sent in this shot of the second-biggest black bear she's ever checked in.

Killed by Kristopher Peters (right), the bear weighed 467 pounds, live weight. Also pictured is Peters' hunting buddy, Andrew Greenway. Peters was hunting with the Benny Shires hunting group.

  4. This site is supposed to be about nature, but you people destroy the nature by hunting (murdering is more correct to me) animals.. let the nature be and get a life of your own that doesn`t involve in killing other creatures.. you people make me sick! i hate people like you,i wish you people die asap, you are worthless for this planet and do nothing but damage to it..

  5. Welcome to the blog Guy P., now you know it's not very nice to wish harm on others! I would think your parents would have raised you better than that! It's also not a good idea to go around with hate in your heart, it has to be miserable. Last time I checked I do not recall destroying anything while sitting in my treestand or hunting blind, I may have snapped a twig or 2 by mistake though. We hunters who post on here are very proud of the game we kill, thats right we do kill the animals we show. We also enjoy them at the dinner table. We all appreciate your opinion but there is a much nicer way to voice it. Stop on by anytime!

Well, I'm sure that's not your real name because most cowards as yourself seem to hide on these blogs and are afraid to speak your real name. Listen up......you do not like what we do, then do not get on here! It's that simple. Animals are a crop from God, and they are put here on this planet for us to harvest plain and simple. Most of us hunters get no thrill out of just killing animals, we feed our families, our friends, and share the enjoyment of a job well done. So "you" people make us sick!! Ain't you got some flowers to go sniff???

--"Flowers to go sniff." Now that is funny. mt

  7. So how on earth would you say we take care of the overpopulation of say...umm, the gazillion deer that are in my backyard everyday. At least some of us use it for food, rather than trophies on the all. I love nature, and do not hunt personally myself, but I accept that without it, some animals suffer. The key is to be responsible. Rather than hate all hunters, at least help promote RESPONSIBLE hunting.

    --Amen, Michele. Thank you. mt

  9. Michele, your post shows the difference in rational and unrational people and that hunters and non-hunters both have a place in nature. It is a shame that clueless people like Guy don't have your insight. You have made a responsible decision to not hunt and I respect that decision. I would be willing to welcome you into the hunting ranks gladly should you decide to give it a try. Great post and people like you show that we can have different outlooks and still co-exist in the outdoors. Thanks.
Guy, Michele sure made you look silly, but then again you got off to a good start by yourself. Stay on your meds!
