The Wild Life, with Mark Taylor

Brody Crockett's first deer: crossbow eight-pointer

Danny Crockett sent in this shot of his 8-year-old son Brody with Brody's first deer -- a great eight pointer.

The Crocketts, who live near Fort Chiswell, were hunting on private land in Wythe County on Oct. 18 when Brody got his chance. It sounds like it was an exciting hunt.

They were using a decoy while hunting in a gound blind made of sticks and limbs. According to Danny Crockett, this buck appeared at 80 yard and after Danny made a few grunt calls the buck came right in to the decoy. Brody hammered him perfectly with his Parker Buck Buster crossbow.

  2. Nice job there, buddy. That's better than any buck I've taken in quite awhile. Well done.
