Static Lines with a fat float tube bass

Well, no one took Static Lines up on his offer of a float tube fishing adventure on Pandapas Pond over the weekend. But that didn't stop him. He went out and had a good day.

This nice bass hit a  Rapala Super Shad Rap.

This picture kind of cracks me up, but when you're in a float tube and going to release the fish, this is the best you're going to do.

Static said he saw quite a few bass, as well as some big pickerel. He also saw lots of trout anglers, plenty of whom were giving funny looks to the guy in the float tube!

I actually pulled one of my float tubes out yesterday in hopes I can use it at for some pond fishing this spring. Unfortunately I think it has a slow leak but it should be fixable.

  1. Nice Fat Bass Static!!!! wish we could have seen YOU in there with the fish though!
I got to go fishing myself this morning for a short trip.... caught a few nice ones.... they were biting for a little while right ahead of this weather front.

Also wanted to say Static that I always enjoy your blog comments.... very insightful and respectful.

Wishing you many happy and productive fishing trips this season!!!

--One of these days I'm going to actually connect with Static for some float tube fishing, and then we can get the shot. Then again, not seeing his face kind of adds to the mystique. Like the next door neighbor in Home Improvement, you know? mt

  2. Ralph Thank you for the compliment. If you never tried Float Tube Fishing you are missing out! Because at times Bass or fish in the general will swim right up to as you without much fear.

I know with strong currents those thousand dollar bass rigs out class a Float tube, but for shear serene peacefulness I prefer the tube over the boat hands down.

With the obvious limitations I've gotten closer to bigger fish than boaters not to say I've haven't ran into those that feel they own the water ways and would try to create wakes to flip a tuber as they are called in Brittan.

I absolutely love it. I just called Sportsman Warehouse were I purchased mine last year and they sold the last one like it Yesterday for $40 Dollars if you considering Bass Pro has the Fish Cat 4 for $195-$350 dollars someone made a steal.

Depending on the weather Sunday after Church I may give Pandapas Pond another whirl.

Float Tube fishing is popular in Brittan, Spain, Holland, Uruguay, Mexico, Canada California, and Japan have float tube clubs even starting Man made Fresh Water lakes and importing Bass in a major way.

To be honest The only limitation to float tube fishing is mans imagination....

And it's through mans ingenuity to overcome adversity.

Again Thank you Static Lines aka Terry Barber

last weekend I ran into one of your fishing buddies Bruce Penceck, He said he was with you when you caught that monster carp at Tech's Duck Pond.

We also spoke of Float Tube fishing and was surprised to see anyone trying it in the area as many other people that I've seen to have spark an interest in trying it.

--Bruce and I had fun that evening casting flies to those cruising carp. He's a master at it. mt

  4. I would like to thank Terry for speaking with my husband on float tube fishing you were so inciteful and passionate on the subject that my husband have taken your advice on researching it further as you instructed before he buys one of the floatation devices that's available.

Again Thank You for taking the time out to speak with us on Easter Sunday.

Thanks for the compliment, Please remember before you take to the New River or Claytor Lake in a Float Tube Hone your skills on a small body of water first like Pandapas Pond if you try a larger faster body of water you may not get a second chance.

Here is some links to look up and some ways to outfit a Float Tube.
