The Wild Life, with Mark Taylor

After "earning" a third buck, Freddy McGuire tags his first buck

Freddy McGuire had a productive week last week, knocking down two does in Franklin County, which effectively earned him the opportunity to fill all three of his buck tags if he gets the chance.

Well, Monday he got the chance to get started.

He saw four shooters but this was the only one he could get a shot at. He made the shot at this great eight-pointer it count.

Interestingly, he added that he saw no signs of rutting behavior. But I've been hearing more reports about bucks on the prowl so it's getting going.

  2. Freddy, can i borrow that horseshoe? please share your secrets to success? is it just years of great management, countless hours spent scounting? Or is Franklin Co just loaded with these quality bucks?

  3. Thanks guys...

Jeff... Tom Kelly said it best (specifically about turkey hunting in his case but it applies to hunting anything)...

"You have to pay for every bird you kill and the coin you use to pay for them is time."

Fortunate to have a great job and a great family that allows me a lot of time out there.

  4. Congrats Freddy, that is a beautiful buck! Yes, I agree...you must spend the time out there to be successful. Every once in a while you have one land in your lap but the more time I spend out in the woods the more successful I have been. Good luck the rest of the season.
