The Wild Life, with Mark Taylor

Myke Caldwell with a special Bedford County buck

Myke Caldwell sent in this shot of this nice Bedford County buck, killed on Halloween on the family's property.

"It's not the biggest buck on our farm, but it's special," wrote Caldwell, who also took a doe that day.

Caldwell said his dad died recently, and this season just hasn't been the same for him and his brother, Ronnie. He was hunting out of the last stand his dad hunted out of when this deer showed up.

"The buck came in within 10 yards like he had not a care in the world," Caldwell wrote. "I believe Dad sent this buck in to me.  Thanx dad for this nice 3.5-year-old.  We miss ya!!!!!!"

  3. Wow what a photo! Not only is it a great buck but to have a picture with a story behind it as yours Myke.....It's awsome! Don't know if I would have the courage to get out in the woods after such a loss so I commend you for that. That stand and property will forever be blessed with memories and a spirit that will guide you and your brother for as long as the good Lord allows y'all to hunt.
Congradulations on two fine looking deer and I will keep you and Ronnie in my thoughts thru out the season. Best of luck to you and your family and be safe.

  4. Congrats Myke, that buck will mean a lot to you with the memory of your Dad. I lost my Dad (best friend/hunting buddy) 3 years ago and I know exactly what you mean when you stated your Dad sent you that buck. I've had exactly the same experiences in the woods. Good luck the rest of the season!
