Webcast asks: Could Salem face an upset on Friday?Posted Aug26, 2008 at 08:06 PMThe latest edition of our high school sports webcast is out, and this week it asks a question that people in Salem probably don't want to hear: Could the Spartans lose their home opener this Friday? Salem faces Lord Botetourt, and sportswriter Aaron McFarling covered the Cavaliers' first game this past Friday. He came away mighty impressed, and wonders if an upset is possible. "I think they've got a chance," he says of the Cavaliers. Co-host Robert Anderson isn't buying that. Salem is a fast team, faster than in previous years. "Speed is going to kill for them," he says. Our last post on Salem High School sports was earlier today. Our last post on Salem football was August 22, when we posted 101 fan photos from Salem's scrimmage at James Madison University. Yes, you read that right -- 101. We also have photo galleries of all the fall sports teams from both Salem and Glenvar. If you want even more Salem football, we had photos of quarterback Derrick Hickman on August 18 -- and last week's Varsity Cast was shot at Salem Stadium. For you Glenvar fans, well, the start of football season won't come until Sept. 5 -- but we had a post on August 22 about another sports team at the school.
