Glenvar Choir raises funds through an Olive Garden Dinner at the high school
With Disney’s “Lady and the Tramp” playing on a projector screen in the background, the Glenvar Vocal Ensemble students served Olive Garden spaghetti, salad, and breadsticks from the Roanoke restaurant, across from Valley View Mall on Friday, Feb. 6.
All of the proceeds went towards the joint Band and Choir trip to New York in April. There, they’ll see Broadway shows “Mary Poppin,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” and they’ll also see the New York Philharmonic, choir director Terry Haynie said.
The students were dressed in their best, and the restaurant experience was made extra authentic by the singing of Happy Birthday to folks who added a single digit to their age that day – including Bill Brown, father of Glenvar student Cody Brown.
After they were through serving, members of the Vocal Ensemble trickled over to see the lady Highlanders play Radford. Check out the photo to the left of Vocal Ensemble singer Mandy Garman showing her school spirit during the game.
