2,000 fewer seats at Salem Memorial Stadium, er, Ballpark
In case you haven’t seen reporter Pete Dybdahl’s story about changes at Salem Memorial Stadium in this morning’s Roanoke Times, here’s a link.
Pete reports that the new owners of Salem’s minor league baseball team — formerly the Salem Avalanche, now the Salem Red Sox — had suggested some changes in the place.
Among the highlights:
* The stadium’s name has been changed — to Salem Memorial Ballpark.
* And, perhaps the biggie, for fans — 2,000 fewer seats. The thinking is this will make the place feel cozier. It also, of course, helps drive up demand for the seats that remain.
So what do you think of the changes? You can leave your comments below.

I want to know who exactly came up with idea to tarp over 2,000 seats?
That person has know idea and needs to go.

I think this is a awful idea! I always sit in the same area with my friends for years! I don’t like to go up too high and the seats when you first come in are too crowded! This is just silly and why make people upset when you are trying to get them to come out in the first place!
In this economy don’t you think you should make your patrons happy!
Leave the seating alone!
Truly a slap in the face to the fans. What are you thinking?
This is just to force people in to buying more expensive seats. I’ll be attending less games this year anyway…can’t afford it.
