Fire does “extensive damage” to mobile home on Lynchburg Turnpike

An early morning fire has done “extensive damage” to a mobile home on Lynchburg Turnpike, according to Salem Fire and EMS.

Here’s the official release:

The Salem Fire & EMS Department responded to a mobile home fire at 1602 Lynchburg Turnpike (Lot 136), this Thursday morning around 1:48 a.m. There were two occupants in the home at the time of the fire, but they were able to escape without injury after being alerted by a smoke detector.
The first units arrived within five minutes of receiving the call and found heavy fire and smoke coming from the mobile home. The fire was quickly contained, and crews prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent mobile homes.
Approximately 24 individuals from the Salem Fire & EMS Department (Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Medic 801, and Medic 802), Salem Rescue Squad (Squad 1), and Roanoke Fire & EMS (Ladder 13) responded to the call.
The fire, which did extensive damage to the mobile home, remains under investigation by the Salem Fire Marshal’s Office.
