Salem High hosts annual “Dessert with the Arts”

SHS teacher Daniel Barnes helps her daughter top their ice cream sundae, scooped by Owen Marshall (front) and John Harvey. Students Ruthie Edwards and Emily Green wait their turn.
Parents, visitors, and friends who showed up to the April 27 Salem High School PTA meeting were able to get endless refills of sundaes and a handmade ceramic bowl for $10. The entertainment by the jazz band, drama teacher’s Rachel Sailer’s improv group, and choir director Kristi Vernon’s choirs was wonderful, hilarious, and beautiful, but totally free of charge!
The Virginia PTA “Reflections” contest winners were also announced:
In the photography category, Todd Edgell placed first and LauraLee Cook took both second and third place.
In literature, Evan Clark won a first place prize.
In visual arts, Tiffany LeNeave placed first, Randy Tran placed second, and Elizabeth Davis placed third.
