Photos: Annie Lin’s journey to Taiwan
Annie Lin and Jerry Wu Salem enjoyed a summer vacation in Taiwan and submitted the following description and photos:
Cindy, a friend of mine, picked Jerry and me up and took us to Roanoke airport at 10:00AM on Monday, June 15,2009.
We flew with NorthWest (NW) airlines to Taiwan. First, we had to check-in with no liquids, no steel equipment, take shoes off, etc. to proceed to the plane. Jerry did not get air-sick; he lives the movement of the airplane up & down, even if he does not know where is going.
NW stopped at Portland, Oregon to fill the fuel tank before crossing the Pacific ocean for 10 hours to Japan.
When we arrived in Japan it was already too late to catch the airplane from Japan to Taiwan. NW put everyone in Hillton-Narita one night and next morning, we flew with Japan airline to Taipei, Taiwan international airport.
Because NW was delayed, Jerry and I stayed in the hotel one night. We had more than a 24-hours long trip. Finally, we arrived in Taiwan for our vacations.
When Jerry and I arrived in Taiwan, first, we lived at my second older sister’s home. My brother-in-law got traffic ticket at the airport, They live in Miao Li. The next day we went to Shui Shang, Chiayi, my parent’s home. Everyone was so excited to see each other the first time since 1994. My mom and dad are elderly, especially my father walking with a cane and some times with a wheelchair. After then my oldest brother, oldest sister, 2 younger brothers with their families came to mom’s house. Jerry had difficulty communicating with them. The temperature around 98 degree, and mosquitoes flew through the night in my mom’s old house even at that I was so glad to see everyone in the full house.
Please enjoy our vacation pictures.
