Glenvar student’s party for her four-legged friends
Glenvar dad Chris Thomsen sends this story and photo about his daughter Sarah’s birthday party benefiting the Salem Animal Shelter. He also says that she will soon cut her hair for “Locks of Love” for the third time!
When Sarah Thomsen, a rising 9th grader at Glenvar High School, celebrated her birthday she wanted a party that focused more on her four-legged friends than herself.
Sarah, an avid animal lover who volunteers at DeRolf Animal Hospital in Salem, understood the plight of homeless dogs and cats having just adopted a two month old lab mix from an animal shelter.
Determined to do more she invited her friends, all Glenvar students, to a party with one request to bring pet food for homeless pets. Her friends accepted the challenge and responded with nearly 100 pounds of dog and cat food which was subsequently donated to the Salem Animal Shelter.
Shown in the photo are: (standing l – r) Amber Montgomery, Kendall Jenkins, Cara Neikirk, (sitting l – r) Jordan Tawney, Hanah Lee, Emily Strom, Sarah Thomsen, and Mazie).
