What’s on the Salem Farmers Market this weekend
Beth Carson shares the weekly report on what’s expected on the Salem Farmers Market:
Good Morning! This morning we have fresh local strawberries, blueberries, lettuce, and green onions available for your table. We also have Dulaneys Greenhouses and Greenwood Farms with us this morning with extra large potted tomatoes, brightly colored annuals, pretty hanging
baskets, and lots of herbs to choose from! All ready for your weekend warrior gardening projects! Check with the Dulaney’s this
morning for their special pricing for Memorial Day Weekend.
Tomorrow Saturday’s weather may be iffy early on, but we look to have a full house on the market with fresh local honey, delicious fresh picked strawberries, green onions, Spring lettuce, kale, rhubarb, all kinds of flowers and
vegetable plants, farm fresh eggs, and gourmet spice mixes! Highland Farms and the Sparks Family Farm will be on the market with hormone free grass finished beef . Freshly baked breads, out of this world cinnamon rolls, homemade cakes, muffins, pies, cookies, and homemade jams and jellies round out the list of wonderful things to choose from this weekend! Be sure to stop by the booths of Yellow Mountain Crafters and David Smith to check out their designer soaps and other notions. If you are looking for perennial plants, be sure to drop by Jim Washenberger and Meg Hibbert’s booth. They will be selling plants for the Roanoke Master
Gardeners Club on Saturday. Plants include items donated Riverbend Nursery, the VA Center Greenhouses, and other local growers.
Music on the Market! Thanks to Dwayne Coleman, our market will be the place to be on Saturday nights in June! Last weekend Dwayne and about 50 to 60 of his friends met on the market for an Open Bluegrass Jam Session! If you play or just enjoy listening to Bluegrass, mark your calendars! The fun is free to all and goes from 6pm to 9:45 pm. Bring a chair. For more information check out Dwayne Coleman’s website: BLUEGRASS-IN-ROANOKE.COM.
Chefs Circle Series is back and better than ever! Mark your calendars for next weekend! The Chef’s Circle starts it’s second season with the combined talents of US Foodservice’s very own Chef Jeff Bland and WDBJ’s Chief
Meteorologist Robin Reed! You don’t want to miss out on this one! Come watch as fresh market produce is magically transformed into culinary delights! The fun begins Saturday morning June 5th at 9:30 am.!
If you love your freedom, thank a veteran! Have a great Memorial Day!
