Photos: Second-grader at West Salem brings in thousands of pop tabs

Marleigh Hart, a second grader at West Salem Elementary, has collected 11.5 pounds – a total of 15,833 of soda pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House this school year. Her little brother, Camden, who will be in kindergarten next year, helped some, too!

She’s collected them ever since kindergarten, but this year, her grandmother, Patty Hart, enlisted the help of her Roanoke College neighbor, Stephen Simmons (he just graduated May 1). Simmons brought their hefty contribution over before he and his roommates left for the summer.
