Photos: Salem residents grow from Tiger Cubs to Eagle Scouts
Our boy scout troop has had a group of 7 boys, all recently turned 18. Three of these young men joined the cub

1st row: Phillip Rodgers, Riley Newsom;2nd row: Eric Divers, Joel Webber; 3rd row: Kent Davis, Zack Johnson.
scouts together in 1st grade (as Tiger Cubs) and the remaining joined later in cub scouts. They made it through all of cub scouts, and through the ranks of the Boy Scouts as well. And as of the last week or two, all six have now earned their Eagle Scout awards. The seventh, Marcus Rosti, aged out of scouts (turning 18) as a Life Scout.
They’re heading off their separate ways now, to various colleges: Eric – Liberty University, Joel- Virginia Commonwealth University, Zach – Ferrum College, KJ- VWCC, Phillip & Marcus – University of Virginia, and Riley – Virginia Military Institute.
They’ve been a great group to watch grow up here, and it’s really extremely rare to see a group of boys stick together that long and all of them to reach the pinnacle together.
