The Botetourt County Parks,  Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring a bus trip to the country musical  “Gabriel’s Honky Tonk Angels” at the Blue Ridge Dinner Theatre, Ferrum, VA, on  Saturday, July 9, 2011.

The folks that created the  Blue Suede Shoes series have created a brand new country musical, “Gabriel’s  Honky Tonk Angels.” Kitty Wells, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette and Skeeter Davis,  now all residing in heaven, want to do one last big concert that features all  their hits. Don’t miss this nostalgic one-of-a-kind  musical.

Prior to the show, the group will be  treated to a buffet dinner.

The price of $59 per  person includes: Roundtrip bus transportation, ticket to “Gabriel’s Honky Tonk  Angels” and a tour host.

Joel Osteen in Raleigh, NC – Bus Trip

The Botetourt County Parks,  Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring a bus trip to see Joel Osteen in Raleigh,  NC, on Friday-Saturday, July 15-16, 2011.

DAY 1: The  group will visit downtown Raleigh, the capital of NC, with it’s museums, shops  and eateries. This evening, the group will see and hear Joel Osteen. Under  his leadership, Lakewood Church, in Texas, has become the fastest growing and  one of the most diverse congregations in America.

DAY 2: The group will visit The Streets of Southpoint, Durham, NC. With over 140  unique shops and restaurants, there are five major department stores including  Nordstrom. The group will also stop at Burlington  Tanger Outlets before heading home.

Elvis Has Left The Building @ Barter Theatre – Bus  Trip

The Botetourt County Parks,  Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring a bus trip to the matinee of Elvis Has Left  The Building at the Barter Theatre, Abingdon, VA, and to the Virginia Highlands  Festival on Saturday, July 23, 2011.

It’s 1970 and  Elvis Presley is missing. His manager, Colonel Tom Parker, needs his star for an  extremely important live performance (You see he owes a certain mobster a lot of  money). Oh, and the show is in 24 hours. When the search for the real Elvis  proves fruitless, he looks for the next best thing – an Elvis impersonator. But  where can he find one that he can pass off as the real Elvis? And what has the  real Elvis been up to anyway?

Prior to the show, the  group will have a chance to attend the Virginia Highlands Festival and have  lunch (on their own) at one of the many food vendors  there The price of $69 per person includes:  Roundtrip motorcoach transportation, visit to the Virginia Highlands Festival,  ticket to the matinee of Elvis Has Left The Building at Barter Theatre and a  tour host.

Civil War Train – Bus Trip

The Botetourt County Parks,  Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring a bus/train trip to Manassas, VA, on  Sunday, July 24, 2011, to commenorate the Sequicentennial of the American Civil  War and the Battle of First Manassas (Bull Run) in Old Town Manassas,  Virginia.

The group will travel by bus from Roanoke  to Lynchburg. In Lynchburg, the group will board an Amtrak train for the journey  to Manassas. In Manassas, they will have five hours (on their own), to explore  the downtown, eat at the food vendors, see the living history demonstrations,  speakers, art, music and all that the festival has to offer. There will be a  trolley to take visitors to the different sights. At the end of five hours, the  group will then board the train back to Lynchburg where the bus will be waiting  to bring them back to Roanoke.

The price of $125 per  person includes: Roundtrip bus transportation from Roanoke to Lynchburg,  roundtrip Amtrak ticket from Lynchburg to Manassas, visit to Old Town Manassas,  visit to Civil War Festival and a tour host.

Showtime at First Baptist @ BRDT – Bus Trip

The Botetourt County Parks,  Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring a bus trip to the play “Showtime at First  Baptist” at the Blue Ridge Dinner Theatre, Ferrum, VA, on Saturday, July 30,  2011.

Showtime at First Baptist starts the day after  last year’s big hit: First Baptist of Ivy Gap. In this sequel, when lightening  strikes the sanctuary, our ladies need to use all their talents. Not only must  they raise money for a new organ and a new sanctuary, but they must also support  and encourage one another through some of life’s toughest moments. If you can  believe it, many critics think “showtime” is better and funnier that the  original “First Baptist.”

The Botetourt County Parks,  Recreation and Tourism is sponsoring a bus trip to Breakfast at Hillbilly  Hide-a-way, ShineFest and Philpott Lake on Sunday, July 31,  2011.

The all you can eat breakfast at Hillbilly  Hide-a-way consists of: Country Ham, Bacon, Sausage, Sliced Tenderloin, Fried  Potatoes, Eggs, Sawmill Gravy, Red Eye Gravy, Grits, Apples, Hoe-Cake, Sugar  Cake, Coffee and Orange Juice.

At noon, the group  will travel to downtown Madison, NC, for Carolina ShineFest–a celebration of  the legacy of moonshine in the carolinas and its impact on the cultural fabric.  There will be tours of a working distillery, foot-tapping music, delicious food  (including NC BBQ), arts and crafts from the finest artisans, celebrity  appearances and more.

The group will conclude their  tour with a visit to Philpott Lake Visitor Center and  Dam.
