Theatre Roanoke College presents “Almost, Maine” by playwright John Cariani Feb. 22-25

Theatre Roanoke College presents an unusual, often hilarious love story

The Roanoke College Olin Box Office is pleased to announce the winter Theatre Roanoke College Production: John Cariani’s “Almost, Maine” February 22-25, 2012 at the Roanoke College Olin Theater. 7:30 p.m. each night. Cost is $7 General Admission; $5 Seniors (55+) & Non-RC Students.

Seating is on stage, in an intimate three quarter round setting, and therefore extremely limited. Advance reservations are recommended

On a Friday night in deepest winter, the residents of the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine (so far north it’s almost in Canada) are falling in and out of love in unexpected, unusual, and often hilarious ways. As the northern lights hover magically overhead, knees are getting bruised, and hearts are getting broken. But the bruises heal and hearts mend – almost—in this delightful romantic comedy.

JOHN CARIANI (Playwright) Cariani, a native of Presque Isle, Maine, was active in musical theatre during high school. After attending Amherst College as a history major, he moved to New York City to pursue a career. Cariani made his debut in the Off-Broadway play It’s My Party (And I’ll Die If I Want To). Later, Cariani earned the part of Motel in the Fiddler on the Roof revival – his first Broadway role. For this performance, he was nominated at the 2004 Tony Awards for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. As a playwright, Cariani has written several plays including Almost, Maine, first performed by the Portland Stage Company, and cul-de-sac. In addition to his theatre work, Cariani has appeared on the television shows “Law & Order” and “Ed,” as well as the films “Kissing Jessica Stein” and “Scotland, PA.”

Tickets are available from the Roanoke College Olin Box Office by calling 540-375-2333 or going online to www.roanoke.edu/tickets. The box office is open Monday – Friday 1-4pm, closed school breaks and holidays.
