Duane Perdue Memorial Scholarship Golf tourney is May 5
The 3rd Annual Duane Perdue Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at the Hanging Rock Golf Club in Salem Saturday, May 5.
The tournament’s purpose is to provide scholarship funding through the Salem Education Foundation to be used to provide educational opportunities in memorial of Duane, his interests, and his accomplishments. Two different flights will be available: 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all registered players.

Duane’s family and friends would like to thank you for supporting this scholarship in his memory.
Duane Perdue was born and raised in Salem, Virginia. He attended Salem City Schools while growing up and graduated from Salem High School in 1999. Duane went on to Virginia Tech and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. After graduation he took an active role in his family’s business, Security Lock & Key.
On March 10, 2008, Duane was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. Duane underwent months of treatment, along with a stem cell transplant at Duke Medical Center. After a long and difficult journey, Duane lost the battle to leukemia. Duane went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2008.

The tournament will also provide an opportunity to register to become a potential bone marrow donor, by way of the National Marrow Donor Program. On-site donor education and testing will be provided without charge to the general public as well as those participating in the tournament.
