More photos from the kite festival

Annie Lin shares more photos from the Blue Ridge Kite Festival held April 21 at Green Hill Park. She says:

My son, Jerry and I arrived there at 9:30 am. We saw a lot of cars, vendors, the hundred of kites, and a crowd of more than 8,000 people there.
The weather was nice sunny, but we need more wind. We stood in the line to get free T-shirts. The organizers gave away 1,000 kites for children to decorate and fly at the event. When we go around the booths, we saw someone used two long sticks to make long large connected bubbles below in the air. Everyone like colorful bubbles and children tried to catch it.
Our favorite thing at Kite Festival was many volunteers stood side by side held a giant American flag for open ceremony . They played national anthem after song people rolled an American flag back up. Jerry was one of volunteers, he really enjoyed the event; me too.
Jerry’s giant smile sun face (Sunshine) kite just would not fly. I don’t have any idea to make it fly. We stood there. Suddenly, a professional who is a member of the Richmond Air force Kite Club, he came to help us. Do you know? How happy Jerry was? When he held the strip and saw his kite fly up, up, and up into the sky. He said “really go!” He jumped into the air. Wow! See! Jerry’s sun face kite up into the sky.
We really enjoyed kite flying. It was beautiful, sunny day at Blue Ridge Kite Festival. If you missed it, please come with us next year. Please let me share my pictures with you.
We have more photos from the kite festival courtesy of Loren Wright and Savannah Finn.
